Would you like an autographed copy of one of my books? I’ve received requests from readers who have bought my books and would like to send them to me to sign. While I’m happy to do that, it’s much quicker and less costly to attach a signed bookplate to the inside of the book.
Bookstores often carry a variety of bookplates, which are decorative, adhesive labels that sometimes include the words “From the library of…”—the idea being that you would write your name in the blank space. However, if you would like an author to sign a bookplate, it’s best to buy bookplates without any wording on them.
You can obtain a signed bookplate from me in either of two ways:
1) Send me your own bookplate. Some people like to use bookplates with consistent designs for all their books. If that’s the case, please send me the bookplate, along with a stamped, self-addressed envelope so I can return it to you.
2) If you are willing to take your chances on the design I choose, just send a stamped, self-addressed envelope to me, and I’ll sign a bookplate and return it to you.
In either case, please let me know which book you will be placing the bookplate in, as well as the person’s name you would like me to use (such as “To Mary…”).
